reviews
"This one of the loveliest hotels I’ve ever stayed in. Fran and Daniel were superb hosts, giving us a warm welcome and were very helpful throughout our stay. The lodge itself is beautiful - super stylish decor, spacious, light, airy rooms, impeccable attention to detail and breathtaking views. The overall atmosphere is one of calmness and relaxation. The hotel is a short drive from Kaiteriteri and was the perfect base for our trip to Abel Tasman. My only disappointment was that we couldn’t stay longer!"

We do our part to keep our conscience green and the environment happy and healthy whilst offering the highest standard of boutique luxury accommodation for our guests. We emphasize elements such as environmental responsibility and minimizing negative impact.
We work with a power company operating on renewable energy sources, our power is as green as the views. Furthermore, we have just upgraded the Lodge with energy efficient LED lighting in the entire building, inside and outside.
All appliances have recently been updated to more energy efficient models.
The Lodge underwent massive renovations and renewals since Fran & Daniel moved in in 2016. The fully insulated property is now also completely double glazed, to ensure a minimum heat loss and the comfort of our guests. Instead of noisy and energy consuming AirConditions we have invested in Low-E special tinted glass to keep the summer heat out of the rooms.
We heat the Lodge on chilly days with firewood sourced from our own forest, handcut by Daniel.
Rubbish and waste is always strictly recycled. Food leftovers are composted, for additional support we use the Hungry Bin - an eco friendly worm farm - to manage high season demands. The rest is happily taken care of by our free range chicken - who also deliver delicious eggs for your breakfast.
We use eco-friendly toiletries and clean with non-toxic cleaning and non-disposable supplies.

Our food is mainly sourced locally, we also work with local contractors for any distribution, laundry and any sort of maintenance service only. Our masseuse, yoga teachers, builders, cleaners, electricians and landscapers - they're all from the neighbourhood.

Split Apple Lodge operates purely on rainwater. We collect the water in large tanks and store up to 125.000l, it then gets filtered and UV-treated before we use it to shower, cook, clean and drink.
